Florida Gulf Coast University Art Galleries

Students working in sculpture, drawing, digital media, printmaking, painting and ceramics submit their finest works for this   annual juried exhibition. Up to 70 works of art, demonstrating students’ accomplishments and experiments, will be featured. The jurors for the exhibition are local artist, curators and art professionals.

The Art Galleries of Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) present the 19th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition sponsored in part by U. Tobe, FineMark National Bank & Trust, Thomas Riley Studio, the Smith Family Foundation of Estero, The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel, and the Stage of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture. Starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, there will be an opening reception with live music by Balinese Gamelan Orchestra, with an awards ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. at the Arts Complex. The exhibit runs through Thursday, April 6.

 

The exhibit features artwork by FGCU students selected by jurors Chad Jensen, Creative Director of Thomas Riley Studios; Gisela Carbonell, Director of Curatorial Affairs at Artis-Naples, The Baker Museum; and Andy Brown, Program Manager for the United Arts Council, from more than 300 submissions. Students of all levels were invited to participate. Scholarships and cash awards will be presented to students at the opening reception. The awards are the Carl Schwartz Award for Artistic Endeavor, Rauschenberg Studio Tour Awards, Southwest Florida Fine Craft Guild Awards of Excellence, the Frame-It of Bonita Springs Awards, the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary ClubAward, FineMark Scholarship Award, Thomas Riley Studio Scholarship Award, and the College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Scholarship Award.
